How to add a book

A simple step-by-step guide for new Firefly users or anyone who wants to add a book to their library quickly.

📚 Getting started

There are several ways to add a book in Firefly. The best option depends on whether you have the physical book with you or simply want to find it by title.

Method 1. Search for a book

1

Open the add-book screen

Tap the button to add a book in Firefly.

2

Enter a title or author

Start typing the book title or the author’s name in the search field.

3

Choose the correct result

Check the cover, title and author, then open the matching book.

4

Add it to your library

Choose the appropriate status — Want to read, Reading or Read — and save.

Method 2. Scan the ISBN

If you have the physical book nearby, this is usually the fastest option.

  • open the ISBN scanner;
  • point the camera at the barcode;
  • wait for the code to be detected;
  • check the detected book and add it.

Method 3. Add a book manually

  • use this option if the book could not be found;
  • enter the title, author and other details manually;
  • optionally add your own cover;
  • save the book — you can then track progress, quotes and notes.

Tip

If search does not return the right result, do not get stuck there. Add the book manually — you can always correct its details later.
