Terms in short
- Firefly is a reading journal and book-management application.
- The user remains responsible for their local data and backups.
- Catalog information can contain errors and may be corrected over time.
- Firefly Book of the Year voting and the optional prize draw are separate activities.
1) General use
By using Firefly you agree to use the application and related services lawfully and without attempting to interfere with other users, the catalog, voting systems or server infrastructure.
2) Reading data and backups
Core library data is primarily stored locally. Users should create backups appropriate to their needs. Firefly cannot guarantee recovery of data that exists only on a lost, damaged or reset device.
3) Book catalog and user contributions
Bibliographic data may come from open sources, publishers, public APIs, the Firefly catalog and user corrections. Firefly may moderate, merge or correct catalog entries, including editions that refer to the same work.
4) Ratings, reviews and proposals
Submitting a rating, review or catalog correction is voluntary. Content may be rejected or removed when it is abusive, fraudulent, technically invalid or unrelated to the relevant book.
5) External services
Some optional features depend on services such as Google, Google Drive, Google Play, public book APIs, Monobank or social networks. Their own terms and availability also apply.
6) Availability and development
Firefly is actively developed. Features can be introduced, changed, tested or temporarily unavailable. Development and test builds shown on the website are not the same as the current stable public release.
7) Donations and future paid features
Users may support the project voluntarily through donations. Donations are not a purchase of app functionality. If separate paid or Pro features are introduced, their terms will be stated in the app and/or the relevant store.
8) Firefly Book of the Year and seasonal voting
- Firefly Book of the Year is an annual reader vote. It is not a professional, government or official literary prize.
- The candidate list is based on reader activity and work-level metrics and is reviewed before the shortlist is frozen. Different ISBNs or editions of the same work should not artificially multiply its presence.
- A position in the preliminary candidate ranking does not guarantee a place in the final.
- The 2026 final format is 5 categories × 8 finalists.
- Each reader has one active vote per category. The vote can be changed before the published deadline; the new choice replaces the previous one.
- Interim vote totals and positions remain hidden until official publication.
- For the 2026 season, a tie is resolved by the position in the frozen shortlist.
- The prize draw is legally and logically separate from voting. Joining the draw does not add votes or change vote weight.
- Withdrawing a raffle application does not cancel an already saved vote, and voting without joining the raffle remains fully valid.
- The 2026 raffle is conducted exclusively within Ukraine, excluding the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. Delivery outside Ukraine is not a standard condition; for a confirmed winner who is abroad, the possibility and method of receiving the prize may be agreed individually and are not guaranteed.
- Abusive, duplicated or fraudulent raffle entries may be cancelled under the published raffle rules.
- After publication, official season results move into the historical archive. The archive contains public results, not private contact data.
